News -Yemen: Director of Intisaf Organization for Rights Women and Children outlined the reality of women in Yemen during her participation Monday in the symposium “Arab Women in Support of Stability” held via the Internet in Geneva.
During the symposium that was held on the sidelines of the 47th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Somaia Al-Taifi pointed to the suffering of women in Yemen during 2,300 days of US-Saudi aggression and siege.
“More than six thousand women victims were killed or wounded,” Al-Taifi said. “Most of the world’s women enjoy their rights in accordance with international laws and conventions, while these conventions have been absent from Yemeni women in light of the aggression and siege that continues to rob the rights of Yemeni men and women.”
She referred to the “tragic” situation of women in Yemen, indicating that 8,000 women die annually in the country, according to the statistics of the Ministry of Health in Sana’a, while 75 per cent of women lack health care due to the blockade.
