On International Aviation Day. Is The Military Solution The First Option For Opening Sanaa Airport?
In conjunction with the International Civil Aviation Day set by the UN organization ICAO on December 7th each year, staff of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology held a vigil to demand the opening of Sanaa International Airport.
Protesters in the vigil called for lifting of the siege of the airport, which was closed by Saudi-led coalition forces, without justification in 2016. Its closure exacerbated the humanitarian situation in the country and doubled the suffering of citizens on the social, economic and health levels.
As the world celebrates World Civil Aviation Day and provides the best services and privileges in air traffic, Sanaa International Airport is under a suffocating blockade, as well as being constantly targeted by airstrikes under the pretext of using it for military purposes, as claimed by coalition forces.
Observers believe that the siege of Sana’a airport is illegal and contrary to the practices of UN organizations colluding with the coalition and its silence on crimes committed against Yemenis, including the naval and land blockades.
They said military resolution by the army and popular committees is now required to resolve the thorny issues imposed by the war on Yemen.
