Russian Defense Ministry: humanitarian corridors opened to evacuate civilians from Mariupol and Volnovakha
Russian Defense Ministry announced Saturday a ceasefire as humanitarian corridors were opened to evacuate civilians from the cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha as of 10 a.m. Moscow.
Sputnik news Agency quoted a statement by the Ministry as saying that an agreement has been reached with the Ukrainian side to open humanitarian corridors and let civils get out of the two cities.
Deputy commander of the popular forces of Donetsk People’s Republic, Eduard Basurin, said Thursday that the Ukrainian extremist battalions prevent residents of Mariupol city from leaving via the humanitarian corridors as they take them as human shields.
