Death Toll of Journalists in Gaza Rises to 220 After Israeli Strike Kills Hassan Majdi Abu Warda

Gaza  (Quds News Network)- The number of Palestinian journalists killed in Gaza has risen to 220 since the start of Israel’s genocide in the Strip, following the death of journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda.

Abu Warda, director of Barq Gaza News Agency, was killed along with several members of his family when an Israeli airstrike hit their home in Jabalia, northern Gaza.

The Government Media Office in Gaza strongly condemned Israel’s targeted killings of journalists. It accused the Israeli army of carrying out a deliberate and systematic campaign against Palestinian media workers.

“We hold the Israeli occupation, the US administration, and allied governments — including the UK, Germany, and France — fully responsible for these brutal crimes,” the statement said.

The office called on international journalist unions, including the International Federation of Journalists and the Arab Journalists Union, to denounce the ongoing war crimes against journalists in Gaza.

It also urged the international community and relevant media organizations to act. “We demand accountability and international prosecution of Israeli officials responsible for the killing and assassination of media workers,” the office said.

The office described the war in Gaza as an act of genocide and called for “serious international pressure to stop the killings, protect journalists, and bring justice to the victims.”
