Statement condemning the horrific toll of victims of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the increasing number of casualties: (70,354) martyrs and (171,030) injured.
In a horrific and still incomplete toll of victims of the crimes committed by the Israeli Zionist occupation against the Palestinian people, and with the ongoing recovery of martyrs’ bodies from under the rubble and from areas that have become accessible after the ceasefire, the number of victims of the Israeli enemy’s massacres is expected to exceed initial estimates. Current estimates indicate more than 70,354 martyrs and 171,030 wounded, and these numbers are constantly rising. These appalling and incomplete figures place a heavy burden on the international community to ensure accountability and justice.
These crimes and massacres constitute a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which mandates the protection of civilians and civilian objects. The targeting of innocent civilians confirms the deliberate intent of the Israeli Zionist occupation army to violate the fundamental principles of this law, foremost among them the principle of distinction between combatants and civilians, the principle of proportionality, and the principle of humanity. These grave violations elevate these acts to war crimes and crimes against humanity, and are an extension of the crimes of genocide that the Israeli Zionist occupation has committed for years in Palestine.
We hold the Israeli Zionist occupation forces fully responsible for all the crimes that targeted civilians and infrastructure, and we demand an immediate and impartial international investigation to ensure the criminal accountability of those responsible for these violations, which amount to crimes against humanity and whose horrific nature becomes clearer day by day as the recovery of victims continues. In this context, we call upon the United Nations, the Security Council, and Muslim-majority countries to assume their historical responsibility and take immediate action to provide the necessary support to relief and rescue teams to recover and identify all victims, immediately begin comprehensive reconstruction plans, provide urgent humanitarian assistance, and most importantly, take decisive measures to permanently end the occupation to prevent the recurrence of these crimes.
