Gaza death toll for first 16 months of genocide is far higher than reported
A new study published in Lancet Global Health confirms that more than 75,000 Palestinians were killed during the first 16 months of Israel’s two-year war on Gaza, a figure at least 25,000 higher than previously reported by local authorities. Of those killed, 42,200 were women, children, and elderly people, representing 56% of all violent killings in the enclave.
The research, based on surveys of 2,000 Gaza families conducted by experienced Palestinian pollsters, also highlighted that indirect deaths caused by malnutrition, lack of medical care, and other war-related effects claimed at least 8,200 lives.
