The piracy and hijacking of the Global Freedom Flotilla exposes the Israeli enemy’s continued war of extermination and starvation against the Palestinian people.

We at the Entisaf Organization condemn in the strongest terms the ongoing series of Israeli Zionist aggressions against the Palestinian people. The latest of these crimes was the blatant attack and act of piracy against the ships of the Global Freedom Flotilla in international waters. The flotilla was forcibly intercepted, and the international activists and humanitarians on board were abducted and detained in a repressive attempt to prevent them from reaching the Gaza Strip.

The flotilla’s mission was purely humanitarian, aiming to break the unjust siege and deliver emergency aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip, who are facing a humanitarian catastrophe and a manufactured famine.

The crime of intercepting the flotilla in international waters, preventing it from sailing, arresting its crew, and confiscating its cargo constitutes piracy and amounts to a war crime. It is a clear violation of international law, specifically Article 101 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, which stipulates that all ships on the seas have the right to freedom of navigation, and that no state has the right to intercept a civilian vessel in international waters. Furthermore, Article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights states that the detention of civilian activists is arbitrary and amounts to kidnapping, a direct violation of human rights and their right to liberty and security.

We hold the Israeli occupation forces fully responsible for the attack on the flotilla’s ships and for the safety and lives of its international crew, who were carrying a humanitarian message to the besieged civilians in Gaza.

We call upon the international community, the United Nations, the Security Council, and Islamic countries to exert immediate and decisive pressure on the Israeli enemy to secure the immediate and unconditional release of the Freedom Flotilla and its forcibly detained international crew, and to guarantee the unhindered delivery of the humanitarian aid carried by the ships to the civilians in the Gaza Strip. We affirm that the shameful silence and abdication of moral and legal obligations by states, international organizations, and human rights groups emboldens the Zionist Israeli occupation to continue committing war crimes and violations against civilians in the Palestinian territories.
