The Entisaf Organization for Women and Children’s Rights condemned the continued desecration of Islamic holy sites, amid escalating religious provocation and disrespect for religious symbols and sanctities of Muslims worldwide.
In its statement, the organization explained that the deliberate desecration of religious sanctities, which incites hatred, discrimination, or violence, violates human rights principles, particularly Article 20(2) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which prohibits advocacy of religious hatred that incites hostility or violence.
The organization expressed its deep concern regarding this recurring pattern of desecration, the latest example being the offensive remarks made by US President Donald Trump concerning Mecca. This constitutes a dangerous escalation and a direct provocation of Muslim sentiments, as well as a clear attack on their religious values and deeply held beliefs.
The organization emphasized that any insult or transgression against Mecca, the Qibla of Muslims and the holiest place on Earth, is categorically rejected and represents a serious moral assault that contradicts human and ethical values.
It stressed that freedom of expression can in no way be used as a pretext for insulting or denigrating religious sanctities, noting that respect for religious sanctities is a fundamental pillar of social peace and human coexistence.
It called on the international community, the media, and all relevant parties to uphold their moral and legal responsibilities in confronting hate speech, preventing any insult to religious sanctities, and working to promote a culture of mutual respect and reject incitement and escalation.
The organization reiterated its firm stance against all forms of insult to Islamic sanctities and its commitment to defending religious and human values that safeguard the dignity of peoples and their beliefs.
