Entesaf Organization Warns of Widening Casualty Figures in the Region Due to the US-Saudi Aggression Against Iraq

Entesaf Organization for Women and Children’s Rights condemns the US-Saudi aggression targeting the governorates of Mosul and Diyala in the Republic of Iraq. According to initial reports, this aggression has resulted in the deaths of 20 people and injuries to 32 others. The targeting of civilian areas and populations represents a dangerous escalation that threatens the right to life and physical safety, and exacerbates the suffering of affected families, especially women and children.

It emphasize that the protection of civilians and civilian objects is a fundamental legal obligation imposed by the rules of international humanitarian law, particularly the principles of distinction and proportionality. Civilians must not be the target of attacks or bear the consequences of military operations.

The organization believe that the continuation of military operations and attacks on populated areas will lead to a widening circle of civilian casualties, a worsening of the humanitarian situation, and a threat to security and stability. Furthermore, it will inflict severe harm on families, resulting in long-term psychological, social, and economic repercussions, particularly for women and children.

It emphasize that the right to life, personal security, and human dignity are fundamental rights that must not be violated, and that any violations of international humanitarian law or international human rights law must be investigated and prosecuted, guaranteeing the right of victims and their families to know the truth, receive redress, and receive compensation, and ensuring that impunity is not tolerated.

It also warn of the humanitarian repercussions that threaten a range of fundamental rights guaranteed to women and children under relevant international conventions and agreements.

It affirm our solidarity with the Iraqi people and affected families, particularly women and children, and stress the need to provide immediate protection for civilians and ensure unimpeded access for humanitarian aid to those in need.

It call upon the United Nations and the Human Rights Council to uphold their legal and humanitarian responsibilities to protect civilians and to take a clear stance against violations against the civilian population.

It also call upon the relevant international bodies to conduct an independent, impartial, and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the attacks, identify those responsible, and ensure their accountability under international law.

It emphasize that continued impunity for grave violations of international humanitarian law encourages their recurrence, and that the protection of civilians, especially women and children, must remain a legal and humanitarian priority, not subject to double standards or selectivity.
