Statement of Condemnation Regarding the Targeting of Civilians in Al-Jarahi District, Hodeidah Governorate

The Entisaf Organization for Women and Children’s Rights strongly condemns the Saudi enemy’s artillery shelling of a civilian home, which resulted in the death of an elderly man and his daughter, and serious injuries to his wife and a relative in Al-Jarahi District, Hodeidah Governorate.

The organization affirms that targeting civilians, particularly women and children, constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, which mandates the protection of civilians from attacks, prohibits targeting them directly or indiscriminately, and emphasizes the provision of special protection for children and women during hostilities.

The organization holds the perpetrators of this crime fully responsible for its consequences and calls upon the United Nations, international organizations, and human rights groups to investigate this crime and the violations committed against women and children, and to ensure that the perpetrators do not escape accountability and punishment.

The organization also calls upon the international community to uphold its legal and humanitarian responsibilities, put an end to the continued targeting of children, women, and civilians, and ensure respect for the rules of international humanitarian law and the protection of the rights of women and children in Yemen.
