Statement Condemning the Appalling and Rising Casualty Toll of the Israeli Aggression on the Gaza Strip: 73,789 Martyrs and 174,798 Injured
Amidst the appalling and provisional casualty figures resulting from crimes committed by the Israeli-Zionist occupation against the Palestinian people—and as operations to recover the bodies of martyrs from beneath the rubble and from areas newly accessible following the ceasefire continue—the death toll from the Israeli enemy’s massacres is poised to surpass initial estimates. Current figures indicate more than 73,789 martyrs and 174,798 injured, with these numbers steadily rising. These staggering and incomplete figures place a heavy burden on the international community to ensure accountability and justice.
These crimes and mass killings constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, which mandates the protection of civilians and civilian objects. The targeting of innocent civilians underscores the Israeli-Zionist occupation army’s deliberate violation of the fundamental principles of this law—foremost among them the principles of distinction between combatants and civilians, proportionality, and humanity. These grave violations elevate such acts to the level of war crimes and crimes against humanity, representing a continuation of the genocidal crimes perpetrated by the Israeli-Zionist occupation in Palestine for years. We hold the Zionist Israeli occupation forces fully responsible for all crimes targeting civilians and infrastructure. We demand an immediate, impartial international investigation to ensure criminal accountability for the perpetrators of these violations—acts that amount to crimes against humanity and whose atrocity becomes increasingly evident as the recovery of victims continues.
In this context, we call upon the United Nations, the Security Council, and Muslim nations to shoulder their historic responsibility and take immediate action to: provide the necessary support to relief and rescue teams for the recovery and identification of all victims; initiate comprehensive reconstruction plans; deliver urgent humanitarian aid; and—most importantly—take decisive measures to permanently end the occupation and prevent the recurrence of such crimes.
