Entisaf Organization Condemns the Collapse of a Residential Building Housing Displaced Persons in Gaza

Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights condemns in the strongest terms the collapse of a residential building in Gaza City—which was housing families and displaced persons—following damage sustained from prior shelling. According to the latest data, the incident resulted in the deaths of 21 Palestinians, including eight children, and left 14 others injured. Meanwhile, approximately 100 people remain missing or trapped under the rubble, as civil defense teams face significant challenges in search and rescue operations due to a severe shortage of heavy machinery and equipment.

The organization emphasizes that this disaster occurs amidst warnings regarding some 2,000 dilapidated, inhabited buildings in the Gaza Strip that are at risk of collapse. This situation is compounded by the ongoing blockade and the ban on the entry of repair materials and shelter supplies, thereby escalating the risks to civilian lives—particularly those of women and children.

The organization also warns of the continuing collapse of the healthcare system in the Strip, driven by the fact that over 70% of main power generators are out of service, alongside shortages of fuel, medicines, medical consumables, and spare parts. These conditions threaten the operation of critical, life-saving departments and exacerbate the suffering of the sick and wounded.

Entisaf Organization holds the occupation authorities responsible for the humanitarian consequences of these crimes. It calls upon the international community, the UN Security Council, the World Health Organization, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to facilitate the entry of rescue machinery, heavy equipment, and medical supplies; to protect civilians; to ensure respect for the rules of international humanitarian law; and to hold accountable those responsible for violations committed against the Palestinian people.
