Entisaf Organization: Escalation of Saudi Aggression Widens Danger Zone for Civilians in Yemen

Entisaf Organization Condemns Saudi Shelling Across Yemeni Governorates and Demands Accountability for Civilian and Child Casualties

Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the military escalation by the Saudi-led aggression. This escalation has resulted in civilian deaths and injuries across several Yemeni governorates due to artillery shelling and hostile fire targeting residential areas and safe civilians—a grave violation of the fundamental right to life, security, and safety, and a painful illustration of the perils facing Yemeni families, particularly women and children.

The organization reports that recent atrocities included the death of a young girl and the injury of an elderly man caused by artillery shelling that struck civilian homes in the village of Al-Sharafi (Hasban Al-A’la sub-district, Sabir Al-Mawadim district, Taiz Governorate). Additionally, hostile fire in the Qahr Bani Al-Harith area of the border district of Baqim (Sa’dah Governorate) resulted in the death of a teenage boy and injuries to a man and a woman. This bloody toll reveals the magnitude of civilian suffering and underscores the escalating risks faced by children, women, and the elderly due to continued attacks on populated areas. The organization notes that these attacks coincide with a military escalation affecting several Yemeni governorates. Saudi-led aggression forces targeted the Hamdan district in Sana’a Governorate and a residential neighborhood along the Airport Road in the Al-Thawrah district of the capital, Sana’a, while airstrikes hit the Al-Zarbi road in the Hayfan district of Taiz Governorate. Additionally, areas in the border districts of Al-Dhaher and Baqim in Sa’ada Governorate came under missile fire; a drone struck the Shada district with a projectile amidst simultaneous artillery shelling. Airstrikes also hit the Shibam Kawkaban district in Al-Mahwit Governorate, damaging civilian property.

The organization points out that the shelling of a home in the border district of Baqim—alongside the targeting of residential neighborhoods, roads, and populated areas—raises serious concerns regarding the safety of civilians and their property. It exacerbates the risks faced by families in these targeted areas, particularly given the ongoing missile and artillery fire and airstrikes, as well as the fear and direct threats to residents’ lives and stability caused by these attacks.

Entisaf Organization emphasizes that the killing of a young girl and a boy, and the wounding of a woman, an elderly man, and another man due to shelling and aggression-related fire, constitute a humanitarian tragedy that cannot be treated merely as statistics. Each victim represents a family that has lost its sense of security, a child deprived of the right to life, a mother facing pain and fear, and a community whose suffering is compounded by the continuation of these attacks. It asserts that targeting civilians and their homes, and endangering their lives, necessitates a serious investigation and holding the Saudi aggression accountable for violations and crimes committed over the past 12 years.

The organization emphasizes that protecting civilians and civilian objects is a fundamental obligation under the rules of international humanitarian law, which mandate the principles of distinction and proportionality. It further affirms that children, women, and the elderly deserve effective protection from the effects of the Saudi aggression, and that any attack resulting in civilian casualties must be investigated in accordance with international law.

The organization notes that these distressing events occur against the backdrop of the prolonged humanitarian suffering endured by the Yemeni people due to the aggression and blockade—which have persisted for over twelve years—and the resulting loss of life, material damage, and crises affecting livelihoods, health, and mental well-being. Women and children have borne a significant share of these consequences, amidst an urgent need to provide protection and care and to guarantee the fundamental rights of all civilians.

Entesaf Organization warns that continued escalation—including the targeting of residential areas, villages, roads, and citizens’ property—threatens to cause further casualties, deepens the suffering of Yemeni families, and exacerbates the psychological, social, and health impacts that disproportionately affect women and children. It asserts that the continuation of these attacks without effective accountability risks the recurrence of violations and undermines efforts to ensure a safe environment for civilians. The organization holds the Saudi aggression legally responsible for these violations and crimes. It demands independent and transparent investigations into attacks targeting homes and residential areas—which have resulted in fatalities, injuries, and damage to citizens’ property—and calls for holding the Saudi aggression accountable under international law, ensuring no impunity, and providing redress and reparations for the victims.

The organization also calls upon the United Nations, the international community, and human rights and humanitarian organizations focused on child welfare to fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities. It urges urgent action to halt the Saudi aggression and blockade, provide effective protection for civilians—particularly women and children—ensure the delivery of aid and medical and psychological care to the wounded and affected, and document and investigate violations to guarantee justice for the victims.

Entisaf Organization asserts that the blood of the child and the youth, the suffering of women and the wounded, and the fear, loss, and anguish endured by Yemeni families constitute a humanitarian cry demanding responsible international action. This action must go beyond mere verbal condemnation to include practical measures to halt the aggression and blockade, protect civilians, hold perpetrators accountable, prevent the recurrence of such violations, uphold the Yemeni people’s right to life, security, and dignity, and end the humanitarian suffering caused by the ongoing aggression and blockade.
