HR Commission condemns escalation by Saudi aggression, its systematic targeting of civilians in Taiz, Hajjah
The National Human Rights Commission condemned on Thursday the criminal escalation by the Saudi aggressor and its systematic targeting of civilians in the governorates of Taiz and Hajjah.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Commission declared: “In a reckless, criminal escalation that exposes the moral bankruptcy of the Saudi aggression and its deep-seated hatred toward the Yemeni people, the Saudi aggressor’s aircraft and mobilized forces have, over the past few hours, committed a series of horrific crimes targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in the governorates of Taiz and Hajjah.”
The Commission added: “In Taiz Governorate, the Saudi aggressor’s aircraft launched three airstrikes on the densely populated Al-Sarari area. They also carried out several strikes on a sports hall in the Al-Sanah area of Al-Ma’afir District, causing extensive material damage to a civilian sports facility that serves the youth. Furthermore, the Saudi aggressor deliberately targeted the home of Ali Ahmed Al-Kiri in the Al-Omari area of Dhubab District—an act that terrorized peaceful families.”
The Commission further noted that the Saudi aggressor’s aircraft committed a heinous massacre by striking civilian homes in the village of Al-Mahjam, located in the ‘Azman sub-district of Bakil al-Mir District, Hajjah Governorate. The attack resulted in the death of a woman and left a young girl with serious injuries. The Human Rights Commission stated that these crimes are part of an all-out aggression—as revealed by the Yemeni Armed Forces—during which the Saudi adversary has launched over 2,900 airstrikes and missile attacks in just 100 days of its recent escalation; a record figure that surpasses those seen in any other war.
