Entisaf Organization Statement Regarding the Al-Misrakh Massacre in Taiz
Targeting Homes and Killing Women and Children Is a Blatant Violation of International Humanitarian Law
Sanaa – October 24, 2026
The Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the atrocity committed by the Saudi-led coalition’s air forces, which targeted the home of a citizen, Khalid Abdo Hassan, in the Al-Aqroud sub-district of Al-Misrakh District, Taiz Governorate. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of four civilians—including two children and a woman—and left five others injured. This bloody crime underscores the grave danger threatening the lives of civilians within their own homes, transforming what should be a safe haven for families into a scene of death and destruction.
The organization asserts that targeting a civilian home—resulting in the death of women and children—constitutes a serious violation of the sanctity of private dwellings and the fundamental right to life and security. It reflects a reckless disregard for the rules and principles of international humanitarian law, which mandate the protection of civilians and civilian objects and strictly prohibit targeting them.
Entisaf emphasizes that the death of two children and a woman in this massacre compounds the severity of the humanitarian tragedy endured by Yemeni families. It calls for urgent action by human rights advocates to ensure the protection of civilians, hold those responsible for these violations accountable, and prevent such crimes from continuing without investigation or justice. In a related context, the organization condemned the death of a child caused by the explosion of a remnant of a cluster bomb—left behind by the Saudi-led aggression—in the Bakil al-Mir district of Hajjah Governorate. The organization emphasized that such remnants of war continue to claim the lives of children and civilians long after active hostilities have ceased, depriving communities of any sense of safety. This necessitates intensified efforts in surveying, clearing, and removing explosive ordnance, raising public awareness about these dangers, and providing essential protection for children in affected areas.
The organization calls for an independent and transparent investigation into the attack on a private home in Al-Masrakh, urging that the circumstances of the incident be brought to light, legal accountability be ensured, and reparations be provided to the victims and their families. Furthermore, it calls for the provision of medical and psychological care to the wounded and those affected, the strengthening of international efforts to clear cluster bomb remnants and other explosives, and the assurance that those responsible for these violations do not escape punishment.
The organization concludes its statement by asserting that the lives of women and children are not merely fleeting statistics. Targeting homes and exposing families to death within their own residences strikes at the very core of the right to life and human dignity. It stresses that the protection of civilians is a legal and moral obligation that allows for no compromise, and that achieving justice for victims—while holding perpetrators accountable—is an urgent necessity to put an end to the recurrence of such tragedies and to safeguard the rights of women and children in Yemen.
