Entisaf Organization Condemns Attacks on Civilians in Taiz and Demands Accountability for Perpetrators
The Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the criminal acts committed by the Saudi-led aggressor against civilians in several districts of Taiz Governorate. These attacks—which struck civilian facilities, residential homes, and public roads—demonstrate a blatant disregard for human life and a deliberate violation of the sanctity of civilian objects, showing no concern for the humanitarian tragedies and catastrophic consequences inflicted upon women, children, and families.
The organization highlights that these incidents—including the targeting of a shoe factory in Al-Ta’iziyah District (which, according to initial reports, resulted in the death of three civilians and injuries to eight others); the shelling of Al-Masrakh District (which injured one civilian and damaged a home); the attack on the village of Khashah in Al-Shamayatayn District (which killed two people, including a woman, and injured five others, including three children and two women); the shelling of a house in the village of Al-Fajr (which injured two women and a child); and the targeting of the Naqil al-Sahhi road (which injured one civilian)—constitute a series of grave violations. These acts reveal the full extent of the targeting faced by civilians and their property. The organization considers the targeting of homes, civilian infrastructure, and public roads—as well as endangering the lives of women and children—to be a grave violation of the rules of international humanitarian law. Such actions constitute a clear breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and Additional Protocol I of 1977, both of which guarantee the protection of civilians and prohibit targeting them or subjecting them to acts of violence and assault.
The organization holds the Saudi adversary fully responsible for these crimes and the resulting casualties and damage. It asserts that the targeting of civilians is not subject to a statute of limitations; these violations demand investigation and legal accountability, and they must not go unpunished.
Entisaf Organization calls upon the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and various international and human rights organizations to break their silence, fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities, and take serious action to halt the crimes and violations committed against civilians in Yemen. It further urges the establishment of an independent international investigative mechanism to ensure that those responsible for these crimes are held accountable, and that victims receive justice and reparation for the harm they have suffered.
The organization reiterates that the targeting of women and children, the terrorizing of peaceful families, and the destruction of the foundations of civilian life are crimes that cannot be justified or overlooked. Protecting the right to life, safety, and human dignity is a legal and moral obligation that allows for no selectivity or double standards.
