Entisaf Organization Condemns Attack on a Footwear Factory in Taiz, Resulting in Civilian Casualties

The Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the attack on a footwear factory in the At-Ta’iziyah District of Taiz Governorate. The incident resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to eight others—an assault that struck a civilian facility, causing harm to civilians and destroying their livelihoods.

The organization asserts that targeting civilian facilities, workplaces, and production sites—thereby endangering the lives of workers and civilians—constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law. Specifically, it breaches the principles of distinction, proportionality, and the precautions required to protect civilians and civilian objects, as enshrined in the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the 1977 Additional Protocol I.

Entisaf holds those responsible for this attack legally and morally accountable for the casualties. It calls for an independent and transparent international investigation into the incident, demanding that all perpetrators be held to account to ensure they do not escape justice. Furthermore, the organization urges the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to take decisive action to halt attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, and to provide the necessary protection for women, children, and the entire population.

The organization emphasizes that the continued targeting of civilian objects and the means by which citizens earn their living poses a direct threat to the rights to life, security, and work. This further exacerbates the humanitarian suffering endured by civilians amidst the ongoing aggression, the blockade, and the deteriorating living and humanitarian conditions in Yemen.
