UN, US-Saudi Aggression Bear Responsibility For The Death Of Children With Leukemia

The head of Salvation Government in Sana’a, Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, stressed that the death of a number of children with leukemia is a national disaster, the responsibility of which bears mainly on the US-Saudi aggression.

“Laboratory tests showed the presence of high-risk bacterial contamination in the batch of medicine given to children with leukemia, and investigations are being followed up by the highest levels in the country,” the health minister Taha Al-Mutawakel said.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Health sent memos to the Assistant Secretary-General of the UN, and the representative of the World Health Organization, requesting urgently to provide 14 items that are lacking in the country for the treatment of leukemia.

Minister of Higher Education Hussein Hazeb confirmed that the counterfeiting campaign that accompanied the tragedy aimed to cover up the crime of the siege imposed by US-Saudi aggression, which affects food and medicine.

The Minister of Legal Affairs, Ismail Al-Mahakri, revealed that the ministry participated from the beginning in the investigation to search for any other reasons than what is announced.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Anis Al-Asbahi, holds the US-Saudi aggression responsible for the deterioration of the health situation in Yemen as a result of the blockade and preventing the entry of medicines and medical supplies.

“The disaster that claimed the lives of children in Kuwait Hospital is a result of the blockade and the failure to open Sana’a International Airport as required,” he said.

“The cause of the disaster in Kuwait Hospital was a contaminated batch that was smuggled after the stocks of oncological medicine were depleted from the warehouses of the Ministry of Health and the National Center for Oncology,” he added.

He stressed the need for strict measures to be taken in order to limit the spread of smuggled drugs that harm the health of the citizens and also the national economy.

The Ministry affirmed that it will continue to play its role in health care, and confront the ongoing aggression on the health sector, including supporting the strategic options of the Yemeni people to end the aggression and siege.
