Press conference on violations and crimes of aggression against children in Yemen

Today, Entesaf Organization for Women and Children’s Rights held a press conference on the situation of Yemeni children as a result of the aggression and siege and their repercussions and effects.
The conference, which was held on the occasion of the International Day for the Rights of the Child, which falls on November 20 of each year, reviewed the violations and crimes of the aggression against children in Yemen since March 26, 2015.
A statement issued by the conference referred to the crimes of the aggression and its targeting of governmental and private institutions and institutions in various governorates, and the violations it committed against women, children and school students, resulting in thousands of martyrs and wounded.
The statement stressed that the number of children and women victims of the aggression, since the start of the aggression until November 15, reached three thousand and 825 martyrs and four thousand and 157 wounded.
The ststement pointed out that women and children are among the groups that have suffered from difficult psychological and moral conditions, due to the continuation of the aggression and the siege.
Also, indicated that the number of children with disabilities who were injured due to the aggression is five thousand and 559 children of different age groups.
The statement stated that the number of displaced families amounted to 670,343 families in 15 governorates, stressing that the cases of tumors have exceeded the normal rates.
Where 71,000 injuries have been recorded since the start of the aggression, and there are 9,000 cases that are added annually at a rate of 15%, while there are about 600,000 premature infants who need fuel and incubators to survive, and more than 300 children die every day, and more than three million children suffering from poor nutrition.
The statement touched on the damage caused to schools as a result of being destroyed by the aggression.
Also they added that Yemeni women and children are the most affected groups as a result of the aggression, as a result of the psychological conditions it caused in the community.
The press conference included a review of a human rights report and a documentary film entitled “Violated Rights and a Stolen Life”, which dealt with the tragic situation of Yemeni children as a result of the aggression, and the consequences for them since the start of the aggression until November 15.
