Shura Council condemns burning Qur’an copies by extremists in Sweden
The Shura Council renewed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the Swedish authorities allowing extremists to burn copies of the Holy Qur’an for the second time in front of a mosque in Stockholm, under the protection of the Swedish police.
In a statement today, the council considered, of which the Yemeni news agency Saba received a copy, the repetition of these racist practices, especially on the first day of Eid and millions of Muslims performing the rituals of Hajj, is a racist act that transgresses all legal, human and moral boundaries that have nothing to do with freedom of expression.
The statement pointed out that these criminal acts reflect the extent of hatred and disregard for the feelings and sanctities of Muslims, and confirm beyond any doubt that it is an organized act and an outright war against Islam and Muslims that must be taken by the Islamic nation at all levels and in a manner that guarantees the cessation of these practices and the continuous contradictions against Islamic sanctities and symbols.
The statement called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and related associations and institutions to move quickly and urgently in international forums to put an end to such racist practices, criminalize and condemn them.
The statement called on the Association of Senates, Shura Councils and similar councils in Africa and the Arab world to put pressure on their governments to take practical measures to boycott Sweden diplomatically and economically and other countries that deliberately repeatedly insult Islam and Islamic sanctities.
Shura Council urged the Arab and Islamic peoples to go out to the fields and squares to express their anger at such racist practices and to boycott Swedish products.
