Human rights hold mercenary authorities in Marib responsible for torturing detainees
The Ministry of Human Rights confirmed that it had received a communication from the family of the citizen, Yassin Muhammad Muhammad al-Mutawakel, who was arrested while traveling to the city of Marib to buy a car in early May 2021.
The Ministry of Human Rights stated in a statement, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that the aggression militia in Marib refuses to release Yassin Al-Mutawakel, along with hundreds of abductees, while it practices various types of psychological and physical torture against them.
It indicated that the detainee had contracted pulmonary tuberculosis and his health had deteriorated as a result of torture, neglect and malnutrition, and he was prevented from visits and bringing food and medicine to him.
The statement emphasized that the so-called Political Security prison administration punishes those who demand treatment from the abductees by chaining them and depriving them of exposure to the sun, which caused the spread of skin diseases among them.
The Ministry of Human Rights indicated that hundreds of those held in the Political Security prison were kidnapped from the roads, most of them academics, journalists, students, expatriates, those traveling for work and treatment, they suffer from health and psychological conditions as a result of torture.
The Human Rights Ministry statement held the mercenary authorities in Marib legally responsible for the lives of the detained prisoners ,the violations and torture they are subjected to.
The Human Rights Ministry called on the United Nations, all international human rights, humanitarian organizations, the tribes and components of Yemen to put pressure on the mercenary authorities to release the abductees who are subjected to torture and abuse without any felony.
