Minister of Human Rights meets with Deputy Resident Representative of UNICEF

The Minister of Human Rights, Ali Al-Dailami, met on Tuesday in Sana’a, the Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Luciano Calestini.

The meeting, which was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Ali Tayseer, and the Director General of Organizations and Civil Society Affairs, Rami Al-Yousifi, discussed the mechanisms of cooperation between the two sides and the development of joint actions in the field of protecting children’s rights.

He touched on the issue of violence against children, which has increased dramatically due to aggression, which resulted in negative effects on children, and the importance of holding a workshop to come up with a matrix of interventions to reduce violence against children.

The Minister of Human Rights reviewed the Ministry’s areas of work in the field of childhood, and its plan within the framework of the matrix of child management projects for the years 2023-2025.

He stressed the need to review the crimes of aggression against Yemeni children at all levels, pointing to the gap that is widening day after day in the work of international organizations, and the extent to which their projects touch the needs of citizens, especially with regard to rights, and the importance of providing real priorities for people, including children.

For his part, Calestini stressed the importance of cooperation and partnership with the Ministry of Human Rights as it is concerned with the childhood file, pointing to the activities and programs that can be implemented in the field of childhood based on the matrix of programs and activities prepared by the Children’s Department at the Ministry of Human Rights.
