Gaza’s al-Shifa Complex turns into a mass grave as 179 buried inside it
Palestinian Health Ministry announced that the number of wounded and martyred at al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza has risen to 40, including 3 children, as a result of the power outage, loss of fuel, and lack of medical supplies, rose to 40.
The Ministry noted that the situation is catastrophic in the complex amid the loss of food, water, fuel, medicines and all necessities of life, threatening the lives of more than 1,300 medical staff, the sick and the wounded, and about 10,000 displaced persons present inside the complex.
The Ministry called upon the UN and the international institutions to intervene, evacuate them and save their lives, but without any response.
The hospital is besieged by the Israeli occupation forces that target anyone who moves within its courtyards or in its surroundings, the ministry added.
The Ministry stated that the decomposition of the bodies of the martyrs that are scattered in the corridors of the complex and the accumulation of garbage in it threaten the spread of epidemics, which will make the situation worse.
Under the occupation fire, at least 179 bodies were buried, including the corpses of 7 premature babies, in the complex campus, which turned into a mass grave as a result of the occupation preventing them from being removed from the complex for burial, the Ministry stated.
In turn, Director General of Hospitals in the Gaza Strip, Muhammad Zaqout, said that the occupation is waging an open war on the Gaza Strip’s hospitals, and has taken 25 out of 35 hospitals out of service due to the bombing.
The occupation also prevented the entry of fuel and medical supplies to the hospitals.
Zaqout stated that the hospitals remaining in service have become completely unable to accommodate the huge numbers of wounded, which requires the intervention of international organizations to put pressure on the occupation and transfer them for treatment outside the Gaza Strip.
Zaqout pointed out that ambulances, the wounded and the sick cannot reach hospitals in Gaza and its north, and hospitals in the south of the Strip have begun to go out of service due to running out of fuel.
Zaqout stated that the occupation is promoting lies and incitement campaigns in preparation for destroying hospitals and killing those in them.
The Palestinian Red Crescent indicated that the occupation continues to besiege al-Quds Hospital in Gaza amid the loss of water, food, medicine, electricity and fuel.
