Entesaf Organization: More than three thousand children suffer from cancer and are at risk of death as a result of the American-Saudi aggression and blockade.
While World Cancer Day is considered a global day and an opportunity to spread awareness about cancer and mobilize the support of governments, civil society organizations, individuals and the international community to end the injustice resulting from suffering from this disease. Organized by the International Union Against Cancer, the World Health Organization and its partners recognize the importance of the role of all concerned in strengthening health systems everywhere, including coordinating and providing effective and targeted health services for cancer patients to achieve a future that guarantees health for all, where children and women with cancer live. In Yemen, they have been in long-term suffering for 9 years due to the Saudi-American aggression, without anyone paying attention to them to alleviate their pain and suffering.
The statement explained that there are more than 80 thousand people suffering from cancer, and children are considered to be at the forefront of the victims of this aggression and siege, which caused the gradual collapse of the health system in Yemen, which led to the worsening of the lives of Yemeni cancer patients over a period of 9 years, according to the statistics of the Ministry of Public Health and Population.
It pointed out that the number of infected children reached more than 3,000 children with cancer and at risk of death as a result of the aggression and siege, and that those infected with childhood leukemia are constantly increasing in huge numbers, as the cases of leukemia patients among children increased from 300 cases to 700 cases as a result of the use of aggression. of internationally prohibited weapons in Attan and Nuqum, in addition to the injury of a thousand children in the rest of the governorates.
Also noted that there are nine thousand cases of cancer added annually, 15 percent of which are children, pointing out that 12 thousand cases have died from this disease and more than 300 children with leukemia need to travel urgently to receive treatment abroad, blaming The Aggression Alliance is responsible for the deaths of children as a result of preventing the entry of their medicines.
The organization stated that one of the effects of the siege and aggression is the absence of more than 50% of medicines for cancer patients, especially targeted and chemical medicines. At the same time, the infected are deprived of their right to travel for treatment abroad, as the cure rate is high for blood cancer, but due to the interruption of medicines and the prevention of their entry, many die. Of sick children.
The organization noted that cancer patients suffer from various challenges, as cancer patients in Yemen, including children, must wait in long lines and walk miles to get their main treatment, as well as the great economic suffering that hinders the continuity and regularity of their treatment, and as most of the patients’ families struggle to afford the costs. Treatment, including expensive medicines, housing and transportation costs, and other costs as a result of the economic blockade and non-payment of salaries
The statement explained that the aggression and siege prevented children with cancer from traveling for treatment abroad, calling for opening Sanaa International Airport out of humanitarian need and allowing patients to travel as a result of the emergence of many cases due to the aggression and the use of prohibited weapons.
The organization held the aggression coalition led by America and Saudi Arabia responsible for all crimes and violations against civilians, especially children, over a period of nine years, calling on the international community, international organizations, and human rights and humanitarian bodies to bear legal and humanitarian responsibility for the violations and heinous massacres that occur against civilians.
It called on the free people of the world to take effective and positive action to stop the aggression and protect civilians, and to form an independent international committee to investigate all crimes committed against the Yemeni people, and to hold accountable everyone proven to be involved in them.
