14 Elderly Palestinians Die of Starvation Amid Israeli Siege on Gaza in One Week
Gaza (Quds News Network)- Fourteen elderly Palestinians died in Gaza this past week due to starvation and the ongoing Israeli siege, the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reported on Saturday.
The Geneva-based group said Gaza is facing a “silent death wave.” It warned that deadly living conditions imposed by Israel are killing growing numbers of elderly people and children.
“Starvation is no longer hitting only the most vulnerable,” the group said. “It is affecting everyone in Gaza.”
Euro-Med said it documented several deaths among the elderly in recent days. Most suffered from severe anemia and extreme deficiencies in proteins and minerals.
Hospitals have also received dozens of elderly patients in critical condition due to malnutrition, the group added.
The monitor criticized the lack of a functioning mechanism within Gaza’s Health Ministry to track such deaths. It said many of the victims are mistakenly listed as natural deaths.
“These are not natural deaths,” Euro-Med stressed. “They follow a clear pattern of intentional killing, which is prohibited under international humanitarian and criminal law.”
The rights group said the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels. Israel’s blockade has now pushed hunger into all sectors of society, not just the most fragile.
Since March 2, 2025, Israel has imposed a complete siege on Gaza, cutting off food, water, fuel, and medicine. More than 172,000 Palestinians have been killed or wounded in the genocide that Israel launched 19 months ago, with thousands still missing.
Humanitarian groups and UN agencies have repeatedly warned that famine is imminent. Most aid routes remain blocked, and no supplies have entered Gaza since early March.
