Israeli Airstrikes Kill 22 in Gaza, Target Families and Journalist
Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli airstrikes killed at least 22 Palestinians in fresh attacks across the Gaza Strip early Sunday, targeting densely populated areas and families who had already lost loved ones in previous strikes.
Medical sources said seven people from Daqa family were killed when an Israeli warplane bombed their home in Jabalia al-Nazla, in northern Gaza. Among the dead was journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda, who died along with several family members in another strike on the same area, according to eyewitnesses and emergency medics.
In central Gaza, five members of Abu Amra family were laid to rest in Deir al-Balah. Witnesses said an Israeli drone strike hit them as they sat in front of their home. The dead included four young men and an elderly man.
South of the Strip, Israeli attacks intensified on Khan Younis. In Al-Buraq neighborhood, an Israeli drone targeted the home of Al-Amoudi family, killing a man and his wife and injuring others, medical staff at Nasser Hospital said.
Another strike in Abasan town, east of Khan Younis, killed a Palestinian man whose body was carried to burial by local residents. Meanwhile, the European Gaza Hospital confirmed the death of Dr. Ahmad Adel Abu Hilal, who was killed in an Israeli strike on Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis.
The Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson, Mahmoud Basal, said many of the victims were “charred beyond recognition,” and added that rescuers lack the equipment to search for those still trapped under rubble. “We don’t have the tools to lift debris or locate the wounded and dead,” he said.
In the central Gaza town of Al-Nuseirat, an airstrike on a tent belonging to the Abu Hein family killed a pregnant woman and injured several others.
These latest attacks follow a bloody day on Saturday, when at least 50 Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes across Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces — backed by the United States — have waged what Palestinian officials and human rights groups unanimously describe as a campaign of genocide in Gaza. The genocide has killed or injured over 176,000 people, mostly women and children. More than 11,000 remain missing, with many believed buried under rubble. Hundreds of thousands have been forcibly displaced.
Israeli forces also continue to demolish homes. In Al-Qarara, northeast of Khan Younis, several homes were destroyed as Israeli troops pushed deeper into the area.
Gaza’s health and civil defense infrastructure remains critically overwhelmed, with medical workers, journalists, and civilians under direct attack.
