Geneva Orders US-Israeli GHF to Comply or Face Legal Action

Swiss authorities have given the Geneva branch of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) 30 days to correct legal deficiencies in its registration or face possible court action. The group is founded by the United States and Israel and has come under growing international criticism over its role in death traps using aid distribution in Gaza, where hundreds of starved Palestinians have been killed while seeking food.

A legal notice published Thursday in the Geneva commercial register said the GHF branch had “organizational shortcomings required by law.” If the group fails to fix them, the case will be transferred to a local court or supervisory body, according to the official filing.

The GHF began distributing food packages in Gaza in late May, using a new chaotic way  that drew sharp criticism from the United Nations and international human rights groups. The foundation, registered in the United States, opened its Geneva office on February 12.

Swiss authorities say the Geneva branch lacks a Swiss bank account, a valid local address, and the required number of board members. The Swiss Federal Department of Home Affairs is also considering a separate investigation into the group.

The GHF had previously claimed that its aid operations are safe and secure. It denies any killings at its Gaza distribution points.

But the situation on the ground tells a different story.

Since the GHF started operating on May 19, Israeli forces killed over 550 starved Palestinians while trying to access aid. The GHF, however, denies any responsibility.

On Thursday, Hamas called for an international investigation into the killings. An Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, recently published a report that supports these reports with visual evidence. It revealed that Israeli military leaders ordered their soldiers to shoot at starved civilians at “aid distribution points.”

Hamas also urged the UN to resume aid delivery through UNRWA and other international agencies, calling current Israeli-controlled systems part of a strategy to “starve and humiliate” the people of Gaza.

In a joint statement, the Palestinian NGO Network warned that Israel is using aid control to fuel “chaos and violence” in Gaza amid an ongoing genocide. The network accused Israel of trying to dominate the aid process to deepen the crisis.

The Geneva registry’s warning adds pressure on the GHF as public scrutiny intensifies. If the foundation fails to comply with Swiss law, it could be dissolved or legally barred from operating in Switzerland.
