Israel Kills Yemen’s Prime Minister and Ministers in Sana’a
Yemen’s presidency announced on Saturday that Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahwi and several ministers were killed in an Israeli airstrike last Thursday. The government said the attack struck a cabinet workshop that was reviewing the performance of ministries after a year of work.
In a statement, the presidency said, “In the midst of the open battle with the Zionist entity, we present to our people and our nation a new group of great martyrs from our national leadership.”
According to Yemeni officials, multiple ministers died alongside the prime minister. Others sustained moderate to severe injuries and remain under medical care.
On Thursday, Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on the Yemeni capital, Sana’a. Local Yemeni media confirmed the Israeli attack but did not release details on the specific targets.
Israeli media claimed the strikes targeted senior Ansar Allah officials during a meeting. Channel 11 (“Kan”) claimed that the assassination attempt aimed at the group’s chief of staff and more than ten other senior leaders.
The strikes came hours after Israel said its forces intercepted two drones launched from Yemen. One drone reportedly reached the Gaza envelope, while the other was shot down before entering occupied Palestinian airspace.
The killing of Yemen’s prime minister marks a major escalation in Israel’s regional assaults. Yemeni officials said the attack proves Israel’s intent to expand the war beyond Gaza and Lebanon, directly targeting governments and movements in the region.
