Statement of Condemnation by the Entesaf Organization Regarding the Escalation of the Colonial Conflict in the Occupied Yemeni Governorates and its Catastrophic Repercussions on Civilians
We at the Entesaf Organization for Women and Children’s Rights are following with grave concern and condemnation the ongoing escalation and power struggle between the Saudi and Emirati factions in the Yemeni regions and governorates under their control. We emphasize that what is happening is nothing more than a blatant competition to impose control and consolidate the occupation, especially in governorates rich in national resources and assets. What is occurring in the occupied regions and governorates is aimed at achieving interests that serve the Israeli and American enemy as a priority, even above the interests of the UAE and Saudi Arabia themselves.
We note that the ongoing conflict in the occupied governorates, and the tools employed by each party in it, which are primarily aimed at imposing absolute control, consolidating the occupation, and plundering and depriving the Yemeni people of their resources and assets, constitute a flagrant violation of Article 55 of the Hague Convention. This article obligates the occupying power to preserve the assets of the occupied state and manage them according to the rules of usufruct, not to plunder and destroy them.
The Saudi-Emirati conflict is deliberately deepening and fragmenting Yemen and its social fabric, widening the divisions between political forces to exhaust and weaken the nation, thus facilitating a project of occupation and sustained control. This constitutes a blatant violation of the UN Charter (Article 2), which mandates respect for national sovereignty and the territorial integrity of states, and criminalizes interference in internal affairs that undermines social peace.
We emphasize that the situation in the southern and eastern governorates has been one of occupation and aggression since 2015. Any “reshuffling of local proxies” remains within the framework of competition for the interests of the occupier and its backers, and has no connection whatsoever to the interests of the people. The current situation in those areas is an extension of the deliberate chaos and economic collapse, which is clearly evident when compared to the stability and security in the liberated areas. This is despite the ongoing blockade and unjust economic measures, which constitute a systematic starvation crime that violates Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions, which prohibits the starvation of civilians as a method of warfare or political pressure.
We hold Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and their proxies fully responsible for perpetuating the suffering of the Yemeni people. Their conflict does not resolve crises but rather exacerbates them, turning the lives of women and children into a living hell devoid of the most basic standards of dignity. This is a blatant violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which obligate all parties to provide protection and security for vulnerable groups and to spare them the horrors of armed conflict.
We call upon all free people of Yemen in the affected areas to recognize that this conflict serves only foreign interests. We affirm that popular resistance and unity around the liberation project are the only way to end this senseless violence. We also demand that international bodies break their silence regarding the crimes committed and take decisive action against the forces that are taking the lives of women and children to appease colonial powers.
