Israeli Drone Strike Kills Two Civilians in Ain al-Hilweh Refugee Camp
Two people were killed and several others wounded on Friday after an Israeli drone strike targeted the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp near the southern Lebanese city of Sidon, in another breach of the ceasefire agreement.
Local sources said an Israeli drone fired three missiles toward the Cinema Street area in the Hittin neighborhood inside the crowded camp. The attack killed two people and injured others with varying degrees of wounds.
The strike hit a building used as a kitchen for distributing food aid in the holy month of Ramadan. The blast caused heavy structural damage to the targeted facility and damaged several nearby buildings.
Ambulances rushed to the scene shortly after the strike. Medical teams transported the wounded to hospitals in Sidon, where health officials issued urgent calls for blood donations due to the severity of some injuries.
The attack came as Israeli forces continued repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that Israeli troops fired machine-gun bursts toward the outskirts of the town of Yaroun in Bint Jbeil district. An Israeli drone also dropped a stun grenade toward the town of Houla.
Israeli forces positioned at the Jabal Blat military site opened fire toward the outskirts of the towns of Marwahin and Sheihin. Earlier at dawn, an Israeli drone fired two missiles toward the outskirts of Markaba.
In a separate development, Israeli forces carried out a detonation near the town of Adaisseh. Meanwhile, Israeli drones flew at low altitude over the eastern Lebanese city of Baalbek and surrounding areas.
These incidents form part of a continuing pattern of Israeli violations of the ceasefire with Lebanon, according to Lebanese reports. The repeated attacks have resulted in casualties and injuries in recent months.
Lebanese officials have repeatedly called for an end to the violations and urged full compliance with the ceasefire terms, especially as Israeli forces still maintain military positions inside Lebanese territory.
