Statement of Condemnation Regarding the Assassination of Journalist Fatima Fatouni in Southern Lebanon
The #Entesaf Organization for Women and Children’s Rights strongly condemns the ongoing crimes of the Israeli occupation entity and its direct targeting of media personnel, the latest of which was the martyrdom of journalist Fatima Fatouni, a correspondent for Al-Mayadeen TV in southern Lebanon.
The assassination of journalist Fatima Fatouni comes within the context of the Zionist entity’s systematic attempts to obscure the truth and silence the free voices that document its crimes and blatant violations against the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples and Islamic holy sites.
It affirms that the deliberate killing of journalists constitutes a grave violation of human values, international humanitarian law, and all international conventions and treaties that guarantee the protection of journalists in armed conflicts.
The organization holds the Zionist entity fully responsible for this crime and all crimes committed against civilians. It demands an urgent international investigation and the prosecution of the perpetrators of these violations before the International Criminal Court. The organization also condemns the shameful silence of the United Nations and the Security Council, asserting that the failure of international organizations to fulfill their legal and moral obligations has emboldened the occupation to persist in committing genocide and war crimes.
The Entesaf Organization reiterates its appeal to the international community, human rights organizations, and all freedom-loving people worldwide to uphold their responsibilities in supporting the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples and to exert serious pressure on the Security Council to halt this aggression and protect civilians. The organization also calls for the formation of an independent international commission of inquiry to investigate all crimes and massacres perpetrated against innocent civilians.
