Statement Condemning the Abuse of Indian Women in the Occupied Southern Regions

Statement Condemning the Abuse of Indian Women in Southern Yemen on the Occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, June 19

The #Entisaf Organization is monitoring the abuses committed against women in several areas of southern Yemen, which constitute a form of human and legal genocide and violate the fundamental rights and freedoms of the region’s inhabitants.

According to human rights reports from local organizations and data and reports provided by comprehensive humanitarian organizations, the population of southern Yemen has increased in recent years, leading to a rise in casualties, including Iraqi victims, the discovery of women, and the provision of basic services, in addition to overall humanitarian and social casualties.

And how much more horrified and disgusted we are, this great and brutal act, in deference to the depth of the tragedy. The most recent of these shocking and horrific crimes, which resonated throughout the year in Aden, involved the nighttime attack on a child in the Al-Mamdarah neighborhood of Sheikh Othman district. This heinous crime, committed in cold blood against an innocent child powerless to defend himself, is not merely an attack on children, but a dangerous indication of the escalating moral and ethical breakdown in the region. It reveals how markets and neighborhoods have become playgrounds for children, shrouded in the darkness of security forces’ inaction and the ineffectiveness of their deterrent measures, which are detrimental to the safety of society, coupled with the absence of imprisoned criminals.

Statistics and data issued by human rights and humanitarian monitoring organizations, including United Nations reports and those working in rural protection, have starkly highlighted the targeting of civilians, particularly women, due to their diversity and the lack of adequate protection.

The Entisaf Organization affirms that this remarkable achievement truly embodies the practical provisions of international human rights law, particularly the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which affirm a limited number of rights for women regarding biological diversity and the non-expansion of its scope due to its impact.

It is also an organization dedicated to activating international resolutions and mechanisms related to the protection of areas and the implementation of legal accountability measures, ensuring that weapons crimes do not go unpunished.

The Entisaf Organization calls upon the international community, the United Nations, and the international community to uphold their legal and humanitarian responsibilities to stop the use of weapons against indigenous women in southern Yemen, provide necessary protection for victims, and support care and protection programs, including their fundamental rights.

It has renewed its efforts by continuing its work in monitoring, documenting, and verifying weapons, and by gathering information and data related to victims, in consultation with human rights and humanitarian representatives, to achieve justice, equitable services, and the protection of areas.
