Israeli Drone Strike on Nuseirat Funeral Procession Kills Eight Palestinians
Israeli occupation forces killed eight Palestinians and wounded nineteen others on Friday when a drone struck civilians during the funeral procession of a Palestinian killed in an earlier strike that morning. The strike hit mourners in front of Ahmed Yassin Mosque in the Souq al-Balata area of Nuseirat refugee camp, central Gaza Strip. Local sources said the strike deliberately targeted the participants in the funeral rites.
Al-Awda Medical Complex in Nuseirat confirmed the arrival of eight bodies and nineteen wounded, and said medical teams treated the injured on site as Israeli occupation forces continued targeting civilian gatherings across different areas of the Gaza Strip.
Gaza’s Government Media Office said in a statement that Israeli occupation forces have escalated their targeting of civilians over the past 72 hours, killing more than 25 Palestinians in a series of attacks on public markets, funerals, civilian gatherings, and residential apartments. The office said this escalation comes despite 280 days having passed since the ceasefire was declared, and that it has documented more than 3,750 violations of the agreement by Israel, amid continued killing and bombing of civilians. The Government Media Office held the occupation fully responsible for the continuation of the genocidal war, and called on the mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire agreement to break their silence, condemn the violations, and exert real pressure to compel the occupation to halt its assaults on the Gaza Strip.
