Statement of Condemnation Regarding the US Aggression’s Targeting of the Vicinity of Shahid Baghaei Children’s Cancer Hospital in the Islamic Republic of Iran

The Entesaf Organization for Women and Children’s Rights strongly condemns the latest crime committed by the US aggression, which targeted the vicinity of Shahid Baghaei Children’s Cancer Hospital in Ahvaz, Islamic Republic of Iran. This attack caused panic among patients and medical staff, forcing the hospital administration to evacuate to protect the lives of children and healthcare workers.

Targeting medical facilities, especially hospitals providing care for children, constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. It contravenes the fundamental principles guaranteeing the protection of civilians and civilian objects during armed conflicts and is a blatant violation of the UN Charter, which criminalizes attacks on the sovereignty of states.

The organization emphasizes that this crime is an extension of a series of violations and attacks targeting civilians and vital infrastructure, amidst a disturbing international silence that encourages the continued perpetration of further crimes with impunity.

The Entisaf Organization calls upon the United Nations, the Security Council, the Human Rights Council, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and all international and human rights organizations to uphold their legal and humanitarian responsibilities, condemn this crime, work to protect medical facilities and civilians, and ensure that those responsible are held accountable under international law.

The organization also reiterates its solidarity with patients, children, and medical personnel, and affirms that targeting healthcare facilities constitutes an attack on the right to life and health, requiring urgent international action to stop these violations and ensure that perpetrators do not escape punishment.
