Entesaf Condemns Saudi Aggression Targeting a Civilian Home in Al-Mokha, Killing and Injuring Civilians Including Women and Children

Entesaf Organization for Women and Child Rights strongly condemns the Saudi aggression that targeted a civilian home in Al-Zuhaira neighborhood in the city of Al-Mokha, Taiz Governorate. According to the information received, the attack resulted in the killing of six civilians, including a woman and two children, and the injury of eight others, including a woman and a child, in yet another incident targeting civilians in populated areas.

The organization stresses that targeting a civilian home and causing such a number of casualties, including women and children, constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, particularly the principle of distinction between civilians and combatants and the prohibition against targeting civilians and civilian objects. Deliberately targeting civilians, or launching attacks that fail to respect their civilian nature, may, where the legal elements are established, amount to a war crime requiring investigation, accountability, and prosecution.

Entesaf Organization condemns the continued targeting of homes and residential areas and the resulting killing and injury of civilians, exposing families to direct danger. It emphasizes that the protection of civilians, particularly women and children, is a legal obligation that must be respected, and that serious violations of international humanitarian law should not go unpunished.

The organization holds those responsible for this crime legally accountable for the resulting loss of life and injuries. It calls for an independent and transparent international investigation into the circumstances surrounding the targeting of the home, including verification of the nature of the target and the means employed, identification of those responsible for issuing and carrying out the orders, and holding accountable anyone found responsible, while ensuring that perpetrators of serious crimes do not escape accountability.

Entesaf Organization further calls on the United Nations, the international community, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their responsibilities in protecting women, children, and civilians in Yemen and preventing further violations against them. It urges that protection efforts be linked to international accountability mechanisms to ensure the investigation of serious crimes and violations, accountability for those responsible, redress for victims and their families, and an end to impunity.
