Entesaf Condemns Saudi Aggression Targeting Civilians in Al-Hurair Neighborhood, Taiz

Entesaf Organization for Women and Child Rights strongly condemns the attack by Saudi aggression forces on civilians in Al-Hurair neighborhood, Salh District, Taiz Governorate, using a mortar shell, which resulted in the killing of a woman and the injury of her husband. The attack targeted a civilian family and constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.

The organization stresses that targeting residential neighborhoods and populated areas with artillery fire in a manner that places civilian lives at risk constitutes a serious violation of the principle of distinction between civilians and military objectives, as well as the obligation to take all necessary precautions to protect civilians from the effects of attacks.

Entesaf Organization warns of the continued exposure of women, children, and other civilians to the risk of shelling and attacks, with the resulting deaths, injuries, and humanitarian and psychological suffering. It calls for ensuring the protection of civilians, particularly women and children, from all forms of violence and targeting.

The organization calls on the United Nations and relevant international human rights mechanisms to open an independent and transparent investigation into this incident, document its circumstances, ensure accountability for violations committed against civilians, provide redress to victims, and ensure reparations for the harm suffered by them and their families.

Entesaf Organization also calls on the international community to fulfill its legal and humanitarian responsibilities to protect civilians, work to end the targeting of residential areas, prevent the recurrence of such violations, and put an end to impunity.
