Fetuses Under Fire: New Saudi Crimes Against Mothers in Taiz

Adding to a 12-Year Record of Violations Against the Yemeni People

Entesaf Organization Condemns the Escalation of Saudi Aggression and the Targeting of Civilians, Including Pregnant Women and Their Unborn Children

Sana’a – October 8, 2026

Entesaf Organization for Women and Child Rights strongly condemns the ongoing military escalation by the Saudi aggression and the accompanying airstrikes targeting civilian areas and facilities across several Yemeni governorates, in flagrant violation of the principles and rules of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, which provide protection to civilians and civilian objects.

The Organization particularly condemns the horrific attack carried out by the Saudi aggression on the Sharjab–Al-Turbah road in Taiz Governorate, where a civilian passenger bus was targeted in two airstrikes. The attack resulted in the killing of a young man and a woman, the miscarriage of a pregnant woman and the loss of her unborn child, and injuries to seven civilians.

This grave incident once again demonstrates the disregard for civilian life, including the lives of women and unborn children, and reflects a failure to respect the fundamental rules of international humanitarian law prohibiting attacks against civilians and civilian means of transportation.

The Organization also condemns the airstrike that targeted a fuel station in the Haran area of Dhamar Governorate, killing one civilian and injuring three others. It further condemns the series of airstrikes targeting telecommunications networks, civilian areas, and vital facilities in the governorates of Raymah, Ibb, Sana’a, Hudaydah, Saada, and Al-Bayda, which threaten to cause further direct and indirect harm to civilian populations and disrupt essential services and critical infrastructure.

Entesaf Organization considers the targeting of roads, civilian transportation, civilian facilities, telecommunications networks, and vital infrastructure amid continued aerial bombardment to be part of a dangerous pattern of violations that places civilian lives at serious risk and exacerbates the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni population, particularly women, children, and other vulnerable groups.

The Organization stresses that attacks against civilians cannot be justified under any pretext. Legal responsibility arises where attacks fail to comply with the principles of distinction and proportionality, and where all feasible precautions to protect civilians are not taken. Entesaf therefore calls for prompt, impartial, independent, and effective investigations into these incidents, accountability for those responsible, and measures to ensure that perpetrators do not enjoy impunity.

Entesaf Organization also renews its call on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to uphold their legal and humanitarian responsibilities; take effective action to halt attacks against civilians and civilian objects; conduct independent and transparent investigations into violations committed against the Yemeni people; and ensure effective protection for women, children, and all civilians in accordance with international law.
