Residential Home in Bab Shu’ub Area Becomes Site of Civilian Casualties; Woman and Child Among the Injured
Condemnation Statement by the Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights Regarding the Targeting of a Home in a Residential Neighborhood in the Bab Shu’ub Area, Sana’a Capital
The Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights condemns in the strongest terms the continued Saudi military escalation in Yemen. This escalation has resulted in further civilian casualties—including women and children—amidst mounting threats to the lives of safe residents and the worsening humanitarian situation in the country.
The organization asserts that the attack on a home in a residential neighborhood in the Bab Shu’ub area of Sana’a—which left six citizens injured, including a woman and a child—has raised the documented casualty toll since the escalation began to 265 killed and wounded. This serves as a new indicator of the ongoing civilian toll from attacks targeting residential areas and highlights the direct threat these attacks pose to the lives and safety of Yemeni families.
The announced cumulative figures indicate a total of 265 casualties (killed and wounded) between September 3 and October 11, 2026, comprising 92 killed and 173 wounded. Notably, women and children account for approximately 60% of the total casualties, reflecting the magnitude of the human toll borne by civilians, particularly the most vulnerable groups. The organization notes that this casualty count may exceed currently announced figures, as there are likely victims not yet included in the documentation; consequently, these figures remain subject to update as further reliable information regarding the number of fatalities and injuries becomes available.
Entisaf Organization emphasizes that the attack on the home in the Bab Sha’oub area is an extension of the suffering civilians endure due to the ongoing escalation. It asserts that residential areas and civilian objects must be afforded the protection mandated by international humanitarian law, and that attacks endangering civilian lives require a serious, independent investigation into their circumstances to verify adherence to the principles of distinction and proportionality.
The organization clarifies that this toll—documenting 265 fatalities and injuries within a limited timeframe—represents only a fraction of the total casualties resulting from the Saudi-led aggression against Yemen over more than 12 years. It does not reflect the full extent of accumulated human losses or the widespread humanitarian suffering caused by the aggression and blockade—suffering that has affected all segments of the Yemeni population, particularly women and children.
The organization warns that continued escalation and the targeting of civilian areas and facilities exacerbate the suffering of Yemeni families and deepen the psychological, social, and health-related impacts—burdens borne largely by women and children—at a time when these groups require protection, care, and the assurance of their safety and fundamental rights. Entisaf Organization holds the Saudi-led aggression responsible for the crimes and violations committed against the Yemeni people over more than 12 years of aggression and blockade. It demands transparent and independent investigations into all attacks targeting civilians and civilian objects, calls for holding those responsible for violations accountable under international law, and insists on ensuring they do not escape accountability and punishment.
The organization also calls upon the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities. It urges urgent action to halt the aggression and blockade—ongoing for over 12 years—provide effective protection for civilians, ensure the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid and medical supplies to those affected, and work to end the suffering of the Yemeni people and put a stop to violations threatening their lives and fundamental rights.
The organization emphasizes that protecting women and children is not merely a humanitarian commitment but a legal obligation mandated by the rules of international humanitarian law. It asserts that civilian lives and rights must remain at the forefront of any serious international effort to end their suffering, ensure accountability and justice, and secure redress for victims.
