Systematic Saudi Targeting of Mothers and Children in Yemen

A human rights statement issued by the Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights regarding the massacre in the “Al-Masahin” sub-district, Ash-Shamayatayn DiSystematic Saudi Targeting of Mothers and Children in Yemenstrict, Taiz Governorate.

The Entisaf Organization condemns the “Coalition of Aggression’s” persistence in committing the most heinous acts of genocide and the systematic targeting of mothers and children in Yemen. The targeting of families, safe within their own homes, constitutes a flagrant violation of all international laws and charters.

Earlier today, the coalition’s air forces committed a bloody massacre—a source of profound shame for humanity—by directly and deliberately striking the home of an innocent civilian in the Al-Masahin sub-district of Ash-Shamayatayn, Taiz Governorate. According to an initial, non-final toll, six individuals were killed, including a mother and four of her children. Their tender bodies and innocent lives were reduced to torn, scattered remains—mingled with their toys—beneath the rubble of the home that was demolished upon them.

In condemning this atrocious crime, which strikes at the very heart of motherhood and childhood, the Entisaf Organization asserts that the deliberate bombardment of populated residential neighborhoods and the homes of families constitutes a full-fledged war crime. It is a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights law, and serves as further evidence of the horrific, systematic escalation against the most vulnerable groups—women and children. This occurs amidst a shameful and complicit international and UN-level silence, which effectively grants the perpetrator a “green light” to continue their transgressions without fear of prosecution or punishment. The organization condemns, in the strongest possible terms, this treacherous massacre of a peaceful family in the Al-Masahin sub-district of Ash-Shamayatayn District. It classifies this act as a crime against humanity and an overt act of genocide—crimes that are not subject to a statute of limitations. The organization holds the “aggression coalition” fully criminally and legally responsible for the blood and lives of these innocent women and children, who were struck down by a machinery of death and destruction while safe and secure in their own homes.

The organization further denounces the suspicious silence of UN-affiliated organizations, which publicly lament human rights issues while turning a blind eye to the actual, dismembered bodies of Yemeni children—a failure to act that amounts to complicity in the crime. The organization calls upon independent international human rights bodies and the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to launch an independent, international criminal investigation into this massacre and its predecessors, and to pursue the leaders and financiers of this aggression—treating them as tyrannical war criminals—before international courts.

The blood of the victims of the Al-Masahin massacre in Ash-Shamayatayn will remain an indelible stain upon the international community—a historical indictment that will haunt the perpetrators until they face just retribution. Entisaf Organization remains steadfast in its commitment to its human rights and moral duty: to document this suffering and to ensure that the voices of the oppressed victims are heard across all global forums.
