Entisaf Organization Condemns the Massacre at Al-Makh’af Market in Al-Masrakh, Taiz; Affirms: Targeting Civilians Is a Full-Fledged War Crime

The Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the brutal atrocity committed by mercenaries of the Saudi-led aggression, who targeted the Al-Makh’af market area in the Al-Masrakh District of Taiz Governorate. This deliberate, criminal assault—directed at innocent civilians within a public marketplace crowded with people—has resulted, according to initial reports, in the martyrdom of 8 individuals and injuries to dozens more. This bloody crime reflects a blatant disregard for human life and the sanctity of blood, and constitutes a grave violation of all human values, international laws, and charters.

The organization asserts that targeting local markets and civilian gatherings—places frequented by citizens to conduct their daily activities and secure necessities for their families—represents a serious violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and constitutes a direct assault on the right to life and safety. Furthermore, the deliberate exposure of civilians to the risk of death or injury in public, populated areas amounts to a full-fledged war crime, necessitating international criminal accountability and prosecution. The organization points out that this crime is not an isolated incident; rather, it is part of an ongoing pattern of violations and attacks targeting civilians and civilian objects. This exacerbates the suffering of Yemeni families—particularly women and children, who bear the brunt of these crimes and their severe humanitarian, psychological, and social consequences—all amidst continued international silence and a lack of deterrent measures against the perpetrators.

Entisaf Organization holds the perpetrators of this crime fully legally and criminally responsible for targeting civilians and shedding their blood. It calls upon the United Nations, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and various international and human rights organizations to fulfill their legal and humanitarian obligations by unequivocally condemning this crime, taking urgent action to launch an independent and transparent international investigation, ensuring that all those involved are held accountable, preventing impunity, and working to provide effective protection for civilians—foremost among them, women and children.

The organization emphasizes that the targeting of markets and populated areas cannot be dismissed as a minor occurrence or a violation to be met with silence. The blood of the victims and the rights of their families will not be forfeited by the passage of time. Furthermore, persistent impunity encourages the commission of further crimes, undermines the international justice system, and erodes the credibility of institutions tasked with protecting human rights.
