Saudi-led aggression continues to target civilians in Taiz and Saada; one killed and three wounded, including a young girl.
A statement of condemnation issued by the Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights regarding the targeting of civilians in the governorates of Taiz and Saada.
The Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights condemns, in the strongest terms, the crimes and violations committed by the Saudi-led aggression against civilians. In one incident, a young girl was struck by shrapnel from a mortar shell fired by Saudi-led forces toward the Hadhran area in the Taiziyah District of Taiz Governorate—a fresh act of aggression that threatens the lives of children and exposes them to grave danger.
The organization also condemns the targeting of civilians by Saudi military fire in the border district of Shada, in Saada Governorate, which resulted in the death of one civilian and injuries to two others—an assault that reflects a persistent, direct targeting of civilian lives and safety.
The organization asserts that targeting children and civilians with weapons and projectiles constitutes a grave violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, particularly the principles that guarantee the protection of civilians and prohibit attacks against them.
The organization notes that these crimes are not isolated incidents; rather, they are part of a long series of violations endured by civilians—including women and children—over the course of more than twelve years of aggression against Yemen, all amid a continued lack of accountability for such crimes. The organization holds those responsible for these attacks legally and humanely accountable for the resulting casualties. It calls for independent and transparent international investigations into these crimes to uncover the circumstances surrounding them, identify the perpetrators, ensure they are held to account, and guarantee that they do not escape punishment. Furthermore, it demands an immediate cessation of all attacks and targeting of civilians in residential and border areas, the provision of necessary protection for women and children, and that those responsible be compelled to redress the harm caused to victims, provide compensation to those affected, and ensure the delivery of essential medical and psychological care to the injured and the families of the victims.
The organization also urges the United Nations and international human rights and child-welfare organizations to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities by taking practical, serious measures to halt these violations—moving beyond mere statements of concern or condemnation. It calls for concrete action to ensure the protection of civilians and children, and to hold those responsible for crimes committed against them accountable, thereby securing justice, providing redress for victims, and preventing the recurrence of such violations.
