Statement of Condemnation Regarding the Targeting of a Wedding in Iran’s Hormozgan Province

The Entesaf Organization for Women and Children’s Rights strongly condemns the US aggression’s targeting of a wedding in the Kohstak area of Sirik District in Iran’s Hormozgan Province. This horrific crime targeted a civilian gathering and resulted in civilian casualties, including a child.

According to the latest reported toll, the attack resulted in the martyrdom of four civilians, including a child, and injured 68 others. This constitutes a flagrant violation of civilians’ right to life and security, and of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law, which mandate the protection of civilians under all circumstances.

The organization strongly condemns the targeting of a wedding, a civilian event that does not constitute a legitimate military target. It emphasizes that exposing civilians, including women and children, to bombing and armed attacks is a crime that warrants investigation and accountability.

The Entesaf Organization believes that the loss of this number of lives at a social and civilian event reveals the extent of the danger faced by civilians as a result of the continued military escalation and underscores the urgent need to provide them with protection and prevent the recurrence of such crimes.

The organization holds the United States responsible for this attack and the resulting loss of life. It calls upon the United Nations, the international community, and human rights organizations to launch an independent and thorough investigation into the circumstances of this crime, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure they do not escape punishment.

The Entisaf Organization also calls for an immediate end to the targeting of civilians and civilian gatherings, respect for the rules of international humanitarian law, guarantees for the protection of women and children, and measures to prevent the recurrence of such violations against civilians.
