Entesaf Organization Condemns Saudi Escalation in Several Yemeni Provinces, Resulting in Civilian Deaths and Injuries

Entesaf Organization for Women and Children’s Rights strongly condemns the military escalation by the Saudi aggression across several Yemeni provinces through a series of airstrikes, artillery shelling, and missile attacks, which resulted in civilian deaths and injuries and caused damage to residential areas, civilian objects, and service facilities, constituting a grave violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.

The organization stated that the escalation resulted in the death of one civilian and the injury of two others after artillery shelling targeted citizens’ homes in Al-Majreesh area of Al-Zahir District in Al-Bayda Province. Another civilian died from injuries sustained in shelling that targeted his home in Al-Hurair area of Salh District in Taiz Province.

Two civilians were also injured in an airstrike targeting the Maytam area of Ibb District, while another civilian was injured in two airstrikes targeting citizens’ farms in Al-Munqam village, Al-Durayhimi District, Hudaydah Province. In addition, a civilian was injured by artillery shelling in the border areas of Haydan District, Saada Province, while another was injured in an airstrike targeting a telecommunications network in Qarah District, Hajjah Province.

As part of the escalation, shelling and airstrikes targeted areas and civilian facilities in the provinces of Taiz, Lahj, Hajjah, Ibb, and Saada, including residential areas, populated villages, educational facilities, and service infrastructure.

The organization affirmed that civilian casualties and damage to homes and civilian facilities raise serious concerns regarding compliance with the principles of distinction and proportionality and warrant investigation and legal accountability.

Entesaf Organization warned of the humanitarian, psychological, and social consequences of these attacks on Yemeni women, children, and families, stressing that the continued shelling exacerbates civilian suffering and threatens their fundamental rights to life, security, housing, education, healthcare, and essential services.

The organization called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities, take urgent action to protect civilians and civilian objects, launch independent and transparent investigations into the documented incidents, ensure accountability for those responsible and prevent impunity, and provide the necessary protection for women, children, and civilians across Yemen.

The organization further stressed the need to put an end to the ongoing violations and ensure respect for international humanitarian law and international human rights law in a manner that guarantees the protection of civilians, their property, and civilian facilities.
