Entisaf Organization Condemns the Targeting of Educational and Service Facilities in Al-Hudaydah and Warns of Humanitarian Consequences for Civilians

The Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the ongoing crimes and violations committed by the Saudi-led aggressor against civilians and civilian infrastructure in Al-Hudaydah Governorate. Most recently, these acts included the targeting of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Al-Hudaydah and a Yemen Petroleum Company facility in Bajil District. Such criminal assaults strike at the very foundations of daily life, exacerbate the suffering of the population, and threaten the future of coming generations—as well as their fundamental rights to education, healthcare, and a secure life.

The organization asserts that the destruction of the Faculty of Medicine building at the University of Al-Hudaydah, caused by successive airstrikes, constitutes a grave assault on educational institutions and the right to education. This act deprives students of the ability to continue their academic pursuits and undermines the future of the medical professionals whom society desperately needs—especially given the dire health and humanitarian conditions currently facing the country. Furthermore, it directly compromises the right of patients—including women and children—to access essential healthcare.

The organization also expresses its deep concern regarding the attack on the Yemen Petroleum Company facility in Bajil District. This incident resulted in severe injuries to three civilians, the burning of the facility, and the destruction of fuel storage tanks. Moreover, the fire posed a significant threat to nearby residential neighborhoods, inciting panic and fear among the local population, particularly women and children. It emphasizes that targeting such facilities has a direct impact on the lives of families and threatens the continuity of essential services—including water supply, hospital operations, and the transport of food and basic necessities—thereby exacerbating the humanitarian and living burdens faced by the most vulnerable groups.

The organization asserts that these attacks constitute a grave violation of the rules of international humanitarian law—foremost among them the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and Additional Protocol I of 1977—which mandate the protection of civilians and civilian objects. Furthermore, these acts infringe upon fundamental rights guaranteed by international charters, including the rights to life, education, health, and human security.

The organization holds the Saudi aggressor legally and humanely responsible for these crimes, as well as for the resulting casualties, damages, and severe humanitarian consequences. It stresses that the destruction of educational and service-oriented facilities does not merely target the present; it jeopardizes the future of children and coming generations, while intensifying the suffering of women and families already grappling with the repercussions of an aggression and blockade that have persisted for 12 years.

Entisaf Organization calls upon the United Nations, the international community, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities. It urges them to take serious action to halt the targeting of civilian, educational, and service facilities, ensure the protection of civilians, initiate independent and transparent international investigations into these crimes, guarantee that those responsible are held accountable—ensuring they do not escape punishment—and provide redress and reparations to the victims. The organization emphasizes that targeting the foundations of life, depriving generations of education, and undermining essential services constitute an assault on human rights and dignity. It asserts that the blood of the injured, the suffering of affected families, and the right of students to a secure future must not remain hostage to international silence and persistent neglect—stressing that achieving justice and holding perpetrators of these crimes accountable is an urgent necessity that cannot be delayed.
